Forest City 2 Chapter 7 -Dear George-

I decided to panic call Monty when I got home. Since Hazel was out of town I had to ride the bus home and that meant Monty would get home a little later than I did, which meant I had enough time to take a shower and get a snack, Hazel would have to restock the pantry when she got home.     "Come on Monty, pick up, pick up!" I yelled into my phone, I slumped down onto the sofa I kept in mind to not let my wet hair touch the pillows and to not get any cheese dust on the cushions.     "Hello there Mac," Monty spoke through the phone, "What's up?"     "Can you come over to my house, I'm super stressed right now!" I panicked.     "As long as I can bring a book to read-"     "I need you to help me write some papers!"     "Which class?"     "You know which one!"     "Okay, okay, I'll be over in like three minutes, I can take my bike," Monty hung up the phone and before I knew it he was he...

Character Files: Monty

Image
It kind of is funny to me that my first intentions when I made Monty was to have a nerdy character be the evil one. Monty originally was going to be a villain at first. I had made a business seagull dude that would be his father who was really mad that Cobalt was this teenager who constantly was getting in trouble with the law. Monty, I imagine, would go on the adventures with Cobalt and Mac just to spy on them. I feel he would have made a great twist villain in that story, but now Monty is a lot nicer... sort of. Monty has gone through the least changes in his design over time, I feel his personality has changed the most out of all the characters. Introducing! Incarnation 1: "Olive," was all Monty was, a simple little short dove character that hated mischief and only wanted order, like his father. I can imagine a good redemption arc for this character though. Incarnations 2: This isn't the only drawings of Monty, he has had some other drawings, but I found tha...

Forest City 2 Chapter 6 -Missing Assignments-

    - Trigger Warning: Discrimination- To summarize: Mr. Lupin won't let Mac have their papers back and Mr. Lupin is intentionally failing them. Mac sees their papers in the garbage, but Lupin won't let them get the papers out of the garbage.      I still haven't gotten to hear the ending of Monty's story, it's been two days. I sat down in my English class waiting for my story to come back from Mr. Lupin. He begrudgingly set some pieces of paper down on my desk.     Midge peered over my shoulder to see what grade I got and she asked, "Sooo, Mac, what grade did you get on the stories?"     I glanced down, I thought I did good on my stories, but... I guess not. An F sat on almost all of the papers, the only one that didn't have an F was the first story which had not been returned to me at all, I hadn't seen it anywhere in the stack of papers, so I raised my hand. Mr. Lupin glanced at me with his grey blue eyes, he looked away almost knowin...

Forest City 2 Chapter 5 -The Blue Moon Ball-

It didn't take too long for Cobalt and Bonnie to forgive each other (and to forgive me as well), like almost all high school and middle school romances, nothing seemed to matter, they always would forgive each other instantly. Just in time for the Blue Moon Ball, great, just great. The school had held many dances to celebrate harvest for the kids who had parents that farmed as a living, like Tora for instance, who was pretty angry about the lost game.     "Get out of my way!" He shouted at some Freshmen in the hallway, looks like he was on his way to Homeroom class, when-     "Tora Panthera," a voice called from behind Tora. This voice belonged to none other than the school's vice principal, who later, would become the principal of the entire school, but that wouldn't happen until our Junior year.     "Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Chordata," Tora mocked, "I didn't see you there!"     "That is Mrs. Chordata to you," the vice...

Forest City 2 Chapter 4 -The Lost Football Game-

Sophomore year:     "I-I don't know what to say," Caspian stuttered, "If I had known sooner, I would have done something about it."     I could only catch glimpses of what they were saying to each other behind the school bleachers, it was the first football game of the season and drama littered the school, much like the actual trash people tossed under the bleachers.     "You read the texts, he doesn't love me at all!" Bonnie sort of whisper shouted.     "Bonnie, he said it was just a crush, that doesn't mean anything," Caspian retorted brushing his fingers through his curly hair, he stopped when he reached his antlers.     Bonnie fell silent then spoke up, tears swelled in her eyes and began to stream down her face, "Have you ever seen the way he looks at you!? He's lost in his own reality, one where I'm not in it! I can't ever get him to look at me the way he looks at you!"     Caspian's hazel eyes widened,...

Forest City 2 Chapter 3 -The Past-

It was roughly three years ago when everything actually happened, it all started, the beginning of the end. A new era of students crashed through the doors of the high school for the very first time. I walked beside Cobalt, my best friend since forever ago. All of us, freshmen, new to a world that was unfamiliar. We all knew each other, but everything seemed to have changed. We all were different, some of us even "matured" if that even ever happened.     "Monty! Cobalt!" A familiar voice called after us, "Let me show you around!"     Cobalt turned to face a student we became friends with through a club, which club you ask? I have no idea which one. We turned to see the twins, two cockatiels, Cobalt and I both were aware of Nymph, the older and much more involved sister, but we never got to know Ajax as well, Nymph's twin brother. I soon remembered that Nymph was helping us during 8th grade at the end of the school year, she helped prepare us middle...

Character File: Cobalt

Image
Two of my main kinds of inspiration came from video games and movies/TV shows. Cobalt is kind of a mix between 2 characters I love very dearly. The first character is Gregg from Night in the Woods, a video game I would highly suggest to almost anyone, that's kind of the reason why Cobalt used to be a coyote (you'll see). The second character being Nick Wilde from Zootopia, this is more personality based, I find Nick to be a flawed character who grows throughout the movie and I highly enjoy his friendship between Judy and him. As you can see, a lot went into making Cobalt's character, I wanted to be very careful with him specifically, as shown in some of his chapters. I do want to point out that blue wolves do not exist in nature, but I like to think that it's more of a lighting thing, I imagine that Cobalt, in real life, would be more of a gray color that is slightly blue kind of like a Russian Blue cat. Anyway, on to the character designs!!! Prototype: This is the ...

Forest City 2 Chapter 2 -Library-

The library was a common hangout for the shy introverted types. Considering that I came from a heavily rural area and grew up around a lot of farmers, I have never seen a library that practically takes up the entire street! Clove had mentioned coming to both of the libraries in Forest City, but like most of the citizens, she preferred the inner city one, unless she was looking for a romance novel, which I have no idea what she would do with that, well, read it of course. Clove was into more romance novels and Taiga culture, Taiga was a larger town outside of Jungle City and it held itself together with the long lost Jungle City culture that most of the residents would like to forget about. I didn't know too much about Jungle City and Taiga, but I heard they used to be one city before it split, due to the rich giving up on the poor and somehow, through the mist of chaos, Forest City sprang up and Jungle City forgot about the whole feud.     "Go tigers!" some jock ...

Forest City 2 Chapter 1 -October-

It has been a month since Bonnie's disastrous birthday party, she hasn't talked to me since then, I don't blame her. I stepped over a few piles of dirty laundry in my room and opened my big dresser and all of it's glorious drawers. As a kid, I used to play in dresser drawers, I mostly rummaged through my parents and sisters dressers looking for something fun in them. I never was allowed in my brother's rooms, but I'm sure all that I'd find in their dressers are a bunch of old superhero comics or... I don't know... nut free snack foods. My brother Sorrel is a topic of conversation, he's deadly allergic to tree nuts, which is ironic because, well, we're squirrels. I threw that thought out of my brain, none of my clothes were clean, all my drawers were empty, and most importantly, Aunt Hazel was out of town. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO USE A WASHING MACHINE!!!     Our other neighbor, that lives on the opposite side of the Lupins, to the left of...

Forest City Chapter 18 -Throwback-

"No wait I can explain!" I cried out, I wanted to explain myself so bad, but a burning sensation filled my throat. I couldn't tell if that was guilt or anger that was building up and making my throat burn.     "We had a deal Mac!" Bonnie started in, then was interrupted.     "What deal!?" Mrs. O'Hare interrupted, "Is there something you aren't telling me, Bonnie?"     "Don't look at me, it's all Mac's fault," Bonnie accused.     "I only said those things because I felt bad for you, I wanted to be your friend, maybe even mend you and Cobalt's broken friendship," I tried to explain.     "Yeah, well... you did a horrible job and just like me, everyone will laugh at you," Bonnie threatened.     "I-I'm sorry I got you in this mess... I just thought-"     "You thought and that's why! If you hadn't opened your big mouth none of this would have happened!" Bonnie...

Forest City Chapter 17 -The Nightmare Birthday Party-

I begrudgingly straightened Cobalt's tie, my perfectionist of an aunt wouldn't let us in until everything was PERFECT! I glanced around Bonnie's yard, a fountain sat in the middle of a circular driveway, which was cobbled, and had many cars driving around it. I watched a few high school freshman wading in the ponds practically, they most likely were searching for gold coins because if it isn't obvious yet, BONNIE IS RICH! She lives in a literal mansion the size of... like... a castle! The mansion was large and wooden, there were huge windows that were highlighted by the gold lighting from inside the mansion. The house practically towered over us, Cobalt hesitated at the door for a few seconds then stepped inside after making brief eye contact with me.     The inside is so much more grand than the outside! Large staircases led up to some unknown places upstairs. This was only the foyer, the entrance, of the house. A large red carpet led up to the first flight of s...
