Forest City 2 Chapter 4 -The Lost Football Game-
Sophomore year:
"I-I don't know what to say," Caspian stuttered, "If I had known sooner, I would have done something about it."
I could only catch glimpses of what they were saying to each other behind the school bleachers, it was the first football game of the season and drama littered the school, much like the actual trash people tossed under the bleachers.
"You read the texts, he doesn't love me at all!" Bonnie sort of whisper shouted.
"Bonnie, he said it was just a crush, that doesn't mean anything," Caspian retorted brushing his fingers through his curly hair, he stopped when he reached his antlers.
Bonnie fell silent then spoke up, tears swelled in her eyes and began to stream down her face, "Have you ever seen the way he looks at you!? He's lost in his own reality, one where I'm not in it! I can't ever get him to look at me the way he looks at you!"
Caspian's hazel eyes widened, then he shut them, almost like he was lost in his own thoughts.
"Caspian! Caspian! CAS!" Bonnie now was shouting, "Do you even care!?"
"No, Bonnie, I really don't! Ever since I became friends with you and your stupid friends last year, I haven't been happy whatsoever! I lost the only thing that ever made me feel happy... and you expect me to care about your stupid high school drama!" Caspian yelled, "Because here's the thing Bonnie, you shut him out!" Caspian's face turned red as he stormed off to the school parking lot.
"Bonnie?" a soft and shy voice sounded out breaking the silence.
Bonnie ran off elsewhere, I heard a small sigh come from Cobalt and then he said quietly, "You can come out now Monty, I know you're here."
"Looks like another football game we lost," I chuckled as the timer went off, the Wolves had lost breaking their winning streak of thirty three years! It was devastating for Forest City High School to lose for once. They had never lost a game except for '86 because the quarterback had gotten bird flu and was unable to play the final game of the year. Finally, for once in thirty three years, Jungle City High School had finally won their first game and were gloating about it just as FCHS would.
"Took them long enough," Cobalt joked then he sighed, "I guess that's not the only thing we lost tonight."
"Just give it some time," I replied. Many fans began to boo at the Tigers, some began to yell and swear.
"I just want to go home now," Cobalt had the same idea as most of the crowd. The crowd began to disperse and Cobalt and I were left alone. It was 8:32 at night and Cobalt's parents had a curfew set for him at 9:00 PM.
"So, Bonnie..." I stuttered. Cobalt pushed me against the walls on the back of the bleacher, these walls connected the bathrooms to the bleachers so that no one had to walk all the way inside of the school and miss too much of the game.
"Tell me what she said to him!" Cobalt threatened, I watched his deep blue eyes shift to a passerby walking outside of the bathroom, they hesitated then took off when they met Cobalt's threatening gaze.
"Caspian knows about your crush, that's all, Bonnie just thinks you don't love her anymore because of your crush," I panicked.
Cobalt released his grasp on my arms and turned away. I could tell he was upset by the way he was breathing heavily. I reached my arm out to try and reason with him, but I quickly took it back, it was clear to me he didn't want my apology even if I hadn't done anything wrong in the first place.
He just walked to his car, slowly, he didn't even look back or say goodbye.
