Forest City 4 Chapter 9 -The Show-
Even though I was nervous about coming on the show, I had a feeling it was going to be easy or at least not as nerve racking. Mom and I stood at the recording room door as the sign above indicated it was time for us to come in the room. I sat down at one of the various chairs, a microphone stood above each spot.
"This is Cobalt, my son," mom started talking to the other host, we weren't on air yet, but they talked anyway.
"Nice to meet you Cobalt, I'm Ron," said a large rhinoceros from across the room, he gestured for me to sit at one of the seats.
"So, how does this work exactly?" I asked while sitting down making sure to not mess up the microphone above me.
"I ask you questions, you answer," Ron didn't come off as being particularly interested, but he didn't come off as rude.
"Looks like we're on air in 30 seconds," mom continued. She looked over at me and smiled.
I began to panic a little bit, but took a deep breath.
Mom and Ron started the show as usual saying the introduction and introducing me on the show. Ron began asking me questions about myself, I replied with shorter, quicker answers, then they played the music.
"So, what do we do after we go off air," I asked Ron, trying to spark conversation.
He lifted a heavy eyebrow and replied, "Don't bother me."
I placed my hand behind my head and gazed at the ground, this man was starting to get under my skin.
As we went back on air, I felt a sense of panic again, trying to force it down, I took another deep breath and relaxed a little.
"So, Cobalt, you go to the local high school here right?" Ron asked.
"Uh... yeah, it's pretty cool," I replied quickly.
"Got any friends, girlfriends?" Ron began to prod at the question a little more.
"Yeah I uh-" I cut myself off.
Ron raised his eyebrow at me, as if to motion that I should elaborate more.
"I have a..." I stopped again trying to think of how to refer to Mac, "I have a partner."
"Ooh who is it?" Ron pushed a little farther.
"I cannot say," I admitted.
Ron decided to drop the question and open up a new wound, "Do you have any exes-"
"I think that is enough for today," mom intervened, "Everyone say bye to Cobalt."
Yes, please, get me off of this show, I thought in my head.
Ron squinted his eyes at me in disdain and announced that the show would be going on commercial.
