Forest City Book 5 Chapter 16 -Email-

“How was school dear,” Hazel began, “Did you do anything fun?”
I sat down on the couch next to her and asked, “Did you ever join any clubs in high school?”
“Did I?” Hazel answered behind her book, “I was on the student council, I did sewing club, and I think book club. I can’t remember all of them.”
“Did you ever make any clubs?” I asked.
“Oh heavens no! I can’t handle an entire group of high school students,” she paused, “Only one.” Hazel glanced over, her brown eyes met mine, “Let’s make some tea together.”
As we stepped into the kitchen, the yellow didn’t seem so bright anymore, instead it felt warm and glowy. The yellow countertops shimmered under the pale gold light overhead. The pale egg yolk colored appliances didn’t seem to be blinding against the honey colored wallpaper. Despite the clashy feel that the kitchen had when I first came here, it started to sink into me how much this place had become home.
The teapot whistled with a loud screech, Hazel took it off the stove and poured the steaming hot water into my teacup. She set an orange pomegranate tea bag into the hot water and sat across from me.
“What kind of clubs were you considering,” Hazel asked while slyly sliding a tin of biscuits my way.
“Currently none of them, buuuut,” I paused for emphasis, “I was interested in starting a GSA.”
    Hazel asked curiously, “What’s that?”
“A Gay Straight alliance,” I answered simply, “It’s a safe space for students like me or for students who want to offer support.”
“I think that Forest City High School would benefit from something like that,” Hazel smiled, her warm brown eyes softened.
“There is a slight issue,” my ears bent back, “I’m not sure how many students would join, besides Cobalt, Monty, Toni, and…Bonnie.”
“Oh,” Hazel replied, “Well that’s better than no one showing up.”
I always appreciated Hazel’s optimistic spirit, she always had something positive to say. I replied more confidently, “Yeah.”

I headed up to my room and opened up my laptop, I typed something into the search bar and started typing.
Dear Mrs. Chordata,

As a Forest City High School student, I want to propose a new club, one that is inclusive to all members of the LGBTQ+ community. I want my voice to be heard and I want others to be seen and respected for who they are. I propose to you a Gay Straight Alliance for our high school.

Thanks,
Macadamia Summerwood
