Forest City Book 5 Chapter 2 -Permissible Graffiti-
"Mac it's time to get ready for school!" mom yelled from downstairs.
I glanced at the clock. It was 7:10 in the morning; the early sunlight was seeping in through my window. It appeared as fire-like and reminded me of amber. I then stared at the cold harsh building in front of my window. Cobalt's light was out in his room and it looked as if his room had begun to be cleared out of his belongings.
I grabbed Clove's diary which I had left open on my desk, the last entry I had read had gone over Clove's 15th birthday and how it was a surprise that mom and dad had gotten her a cellphone for the first time. Oh how I remember the old slide phone.
I grabbed my backpack and threw it on a plush, lily-green chair in the corner of my room next to the bench under the window. I grabbed a t-shirt from my closet and a pair of jeans.
After getting ready for the first day back to school from break, I made my way down the stairs and bumped into my dad in the hallway.
"Hey kiddo, you ready for the first day back?" Dad began.
"Yeah, I just hope that everything goes back to normal," I replied.
"I'm sure it will and I hope you know that your mom is sorry for yelling at the party," Dad continued.
"Yeah," I replied with a sigh, "it isn't how I wanted it to go about." I passed Dad and made my way to the kitchen.
Aunt Hazel was drinking what appeared to be some sort of tea, she had an empty plate with some crumbs left on the plate. Hazel nodded at me and continued to sip her tea.
I grabbed a bagel for breakfast and sat down across from Hazel. My phone buzzed and I glanced at it. A text from Cobalt showed up on my lock screen. I opened the notification and there was a picture of Cobalt making a face and his paws making a peace sign. Behind him was a large graffiti of his name in a blue gradient with a yellow border surrounding the bubble letters.
Mac 7:35: Are you even allowed to do that?
Cobalt 7:35: Sort of, I kind of have permission to make this.
Mac 7:37: What's it for?
Cobalt 7:37: Art class.
Mac 7:38: Like a final?
Cobalt 7:38: Sure. I gotta go now, school and all.
Mac 7:39: Speaking of which, I gotta go too! See you there.
Cobalt 7:41: <3
I put my phone in my backpack and smiled. Everything seemed to be going so well, what could possibly go wrong today. Nothing hopefully...
