Character File: Midge Lightfoot
I don't think that Midge was a character I put too much thought into when I made her. She wasn't in the original lineup of characters and her designs seem to have happened a long while after a character like Bonnie got her original passes. There's not much to say about Midge, design wise. I know she is going to play a major role in the fifth book, which is becoming a bit longer than the usual book is, I like this. I like that Midge is getting more involved in the plot. I just hope that her designs are at least interesting to look at thought.
Prototype: I don't even think that this is supposed to be Midge at all, just a scared mouse character, a simple bust shot. The expression isn't too bad, but this is the only mouse background character and was made on August 10, 2020, so before any first passes of Midge's actual design. Does this count for the purposes of character files, probably not.
Incarnation 1: Looking back at some of these older designs, I will admit that Midge didn't change a whole lot. I do know that she has only added more clothing onto her, mostly because Forest City is a bit of a colder environment. Midge has also had a few upgrades on things such as her hair, number of piercings, and her boots have changed. She always will have her phone though. This one was done on November 10, 2020.
Incarnation 2: Something that I hadn't realized beforehand was that Midge was a total goth character, or emo depending on how you looked at it. I have no idea where this trait came from, but it kind of stuck around, I suppose. I changed her hoodie to an actual, more fashionable jacket. I don't hate hoodies on a character design, but I think that there are other things a teenager can wear than a hoodie. I find that the reason why so many people don't like to draw anything other than characters in a hoodie is because they are insecure about drawing torsos, so they hide the arms and hands in a hoodie pouch. Midge is wearing boots, which hasn't changed much and I kind of wish that I kept the skirt, it's cute. Her hair is pretty much the same as the last image and she gained more piercings. Outside of anatomy errors, this drawing isn't too bad, but I don't imagine Midge like this. November 29, 2020.

Incarnation 4: The sketch was done on the first, the final image was done on July 2, 2022. A pretty big time skip, I am aware. This was the gap that Forest City took and Art Fight is the reason why I got motivated to draw again, so a lot of the art was done in July 2022. Her design hasn't changed too much and I'm glad, that means less work for me, but a part of me really likes the simplicity and tackiness of her design. I can only imagine an AU where she's a wine aunt that wears leopard print. I think that at the point of designing Midge, I had a clear idea of her arc and who she was as a person. Before, she was a bratty teenager who could get away with anything she wanted to, now...well that's spoilers for now. I think that Midge is especially a character that I can't wait to explore more of and I know she will have some moment where she gets knocked down a peg. A piece of me doesn't want this though. LOL
I want to start a hashtag that consists of #IloveMidgeFC
Next Character File: Caspian
The one after that is Tora, probably because I'm nervous to share his designs
