Forest City Book 5 Chapter 14 -Heart Shaped Box-
It’s not actually Valentine’s Day, but the school decided to let us hand out our Valentine’s cards and treats during homeroom. This was the first year I had gotten anything from anyone besides-
“Hey, Mac,” said Tora, who was practically towering over me, his jaw was crooked and he had an under bite. I winced at the thought of what happened to him. He handed me a small box and I peeked inside to see-
“These look really good!” I practically shouted, “I never knew you could bake.”
“My grandma helped me,” he said, his yellow eyes darted away, “I wanted to give them to you because I’ve known you for so long.”
My eyes widened, so I was right about knowing Tora since my childhood. I’m sure Hazel would love these butter pecan cookies. I sat down at my desk.
“Sorry I’m late,” Cobalt began, he flopped down at his desk and quickly checked the cups in his hands, “Earl gray and spiced pomegranate and orange,” he set the cups down on our desks. Luckily Mrs. Lanigera didn’t have a problem with outside drinks being in her class. Cobalt continued, “Sour candy for you,” he handed a bag of multi-colored candies to Monty, and continued, “And for you, I’ve got something for now and something for later.”
“I’m interested,” I replied, leaning my head towards his direction.
Cobalt handed me a small, red, heart shaped box with his blue-gray paw.
I took it and blushed, red in the face, I quickly panicked, wafting my hand near my face.
“Open it,” Cobalt said through a toothy smirk, he leaned back in his chair, one blue eye gazing back at me.
I took the lid off of the box and peeked inside, little chocolate covered macadamias. I asked, “How did you know these were my favorite?”
Cobalt leaned forward, his blue eyes met my light brown eyes, and he said, “It wasn’t obvious.”
I quickly brushed my paws through my blonde hair. My eyes darted around the classroom anxiously.
That’s when the announcements rang through the homeroom.
Mrs. Chordata spoke through the speaker after a few students made their statements. She said, “This is a reminder to all of the students that we will be having an activity fair to advertise the clubs and sports of our school.”
Students around murmured about the activity fair.
Mrs. Chordata continued, “The activity fair will take place on Monday after Valentine’s Day.”
The announcements ended and Cobalt immediately smirked at Monty.
“You thinking what I’m thinking?” Monty asked.
“Uh, duh,” Cobalt remarked.
“Are you two planning on joining a club?” I asked.
“Cobalt and I always try to help with the play,” Monty answered, “but this year we were thinking…”
“I may or may not have talked to the director here at FCHS,” Cobalt began, “and she said that she wanted me to be the lead.”
“The lead!” I practically shouted. I could almost feel my heart jump out of my chest. That’s when I felt a familiar feel of some sharp green eyes piercing mine, but this time, they weren’t Bonnie’s…
