Harley's Block for the Cool Kids

So I believe I mentioned in a blog post a long time ago, I think it was an announcement, I'm going to have to look for it sometime, but I mentioned how I was thinking about making a mini series about Cobalt's little sister Daisy. A few months later and we get to last night, I've been thinking for some fun things to do with the little kids in Forest City, not the teenagers, but the kids that appear every once in a while, like Daisy and Raffi, to be honest I don't think that Mina has been mentioned quite yet by Midge, and for reasons we will get into in Book 5, maybe 4.

So what is my brilliant idea, a comic series that will take place around the same time as Forest City, possibly after Book 6. I imagine that Cobalt might make some appearances in HBCK, but since he should be going to college after Book 6, I imagine it will be minimal.

This comic series is mostly about a kid named Harley who has moved to the other side of Forest City or the North side, which is where the cast of the previous comic live. Harley has to get used to the new changes because the South side was relatively quiet and more reserved. Since Harley is used to a quiet simple kind of life, he is sheltered and afraid to run into danger.

Then comes in Daisy, after Harley gets himself in danger, Daisy comes in and shows some bullies who's boss. Daisy also introduces her rag tag group of friends Raffi, the cat kid from the comic series, and Mina, Midge's little sister. Daisy is tough and not afraid to get into trouble, she acts like a mini Cobalt despite the fact that she gets scared half to death every time. Raffi is reserved and quiet, a little grumpy, he relates to Harley quite a bit, and tends to be the voice of reason a lot of the time, he likes to play video games and prefers to stay out of trouble. Mina is the cute little mouse that wishes that Daisy wouldn't get into so much trouble, Mina seems to be going where life takes her, but is not afraid to step in when it seems like an idea will only end in tears.

I think that the main themes I want to show in this mini series is friendship, teamwork, bravery, and most importantly self-advocacy. I think that this mini series is targeted for more of a younger audience, so keep in mind that this is more aimed for younger people, but I will make sure it is still enjoyable for everyone else too.

    Now onto context:

Harley is an awkward bird (parakeet) who is often times bullied in school for being too shy. Harley's mom, Stella, and Harley's brother, Harper, move to the North side of the town to see if Harley is able to make friends there. Right from the bat, Harper is upset with this change, why should he have to drop everything for his little brother to go to the other side of town, everything is perfect for him there. Their mother is hoping to also find someone new as well, mostly because the boy's father is out of the picture. Once they move to the other side of the city, their mom insists that they go out and introduce themselves to their neighbors. Stella is a little old fashioned and thinks that knocking on random people's doors will be a GREAT introduction to the neighborhood. They do this and in the process, the two meet Mina, and her sister Midge on this expedition.

This story does take place in the summertime, so Harley and Harper have time to meet friends and gain relationships with other children. One of these places would be the skate park, this is where we meet Daisy, after Harley gets into some trouble with some rival skaters (skate boarders, idk what to call them), his shows get thrown up on a power line. Daisy shows some basic kindness and gets Harley back up on his feet. Daisy then takes Harley to the arcade (not the one where people disappeared at), and Daisy introduces Raffi the gaming cat.

So far, that's the most I've made out of this story, I imagine that, they stand up to the rival skaters or something along those lines. I hope you all enjoy this idea, and comment down some suggestions down below.
