Forest City 2 Chapter 9 -Worry-
I can't stop thinking about this morning mostly because 1. Aunt Hazel would kill me if she found out Monty was over and 2. Cobalt asked me to the dance!!! I couldn't take my eyes off of him in Homeroom class, he even sat with my on the bus!!! Every single time I look over at him, my face flushes red.
I felt a tap on my shoulder that was followed by a, "Mac, the Principal wants you down to her office, ASAP."
I turned to see Mrs. Lanigera, her eyes were worried and full of dread, I wondered what had happened that she was so worrisome about.
I picked up my backpack and pulled it onto my shoulders, Lanigera handed me a hall pass and wished me good luck. Cobalt just stared, it was almost like he knew what was wrong.
I began to panic once I left Homeroom, I walked as slowly as I could to the Main Office. I turned around the corner to see if anyone was walking or could see me, Toni was in the halls at her locker, late for class... I walked passed her, but she noticed me under her beanie and shouted, "Hey Mac! Where you off to!?"
I replied nervously, "The Principal's office..."
"Oh, well good luck kid!" Toni joked.
I let out a bit of nervous laughter and continued to walk very slowly to the office, I already knew how stern Principal Chordata was, but I only got that from Monty, so I'm not sure how reliable that is. I turned another corner in the hallway, I could see into the windows of the office, two secretaries sat at their desks typing away at their computers, one even was in a phone call with the other.
I took a step towards the office, but it felt like my other leg was trying to hold me back from going inside, I took another step, and another, until.
"Macadamia. I was just about to have one of the secretaries call you down," Chordata voiced from in front of me.
"Y-yeah, Mrs. Lanigera told me to come down here, so I went, you know..." I stuttered.
"She is quite a good teacher, always on top of things," Chordata replied, "I want you to take a seat in one of these chairs please," she motioned to one of the blue seats in the office that sat below the windows.
I staggered into the office, I was so nervous that my own legs felt like they were going to detach and run out the school leaving me behind to the wrath of Principal Chordata.
I could hear some talking in the Principal's office, which was a room that was inside of the office, there was also a room in one of the hallways that led to the nurse's office and entered into a few conference rooms. The room was meant for Parent Teacher Conferences and other kinds of meetings with parents, the door was closed to this room and I could hear some whispering from behind the door.
I listened closely to what was being said in the Principal's office.
"You could lose your job over this!" The first voice sounded like Chordata.
"I know, I know, but I have good reasons, plus I've been working here for the past 20 something years," the other voice spoke.
"You and Jackal both are some of my best teachers, I can't afford to lose you both, but keep this up and we may have to fire you."
"You and I both know that there is no other English teacher in this whole... city."
I didn't quite catch what the other voice had said in that pause, but it didn't sound too nice, I listened in some more.
The first voice cleared their throat and continued, "I know, but sometimes the worst decisions are the best decisions."
"I'm not losing my job over a student!" the second voice began to yell, then they slammed open the door to the office and I met his familiar gray blue eyes.
Mr. Lupin...
"she motioned to one of the blue seats in the office that sat below the windows" gee, i wonder where you got such a specific detail from
