Forest City 2 Chapter 16 -The Fall Ball Begins-
We all got out of Toni's car and thanked her for driving us to the school. She went to go find a parking lot as we waited at the entrance, the school hadn't opened up yet and many students were eager to get inside.
"So, Bonnie, who did you take to the dance?" I asked, then winked.
Bonnie twirled her hair, then mocked a Taiga Pop star, "Oh jus' a BEA-U-tiful horse babe."
We giggled and gossiped about each other's dates to the dance and talked about our outfits extensively. The school opened the doors to us and we all flooded in, not orderly like the school imagined we would do. Everyone was excited to have fun at The Fall Ball. The romance, the drama, how preposterous! Cobalt took my hand as we gave some students who were sitting at a booth some money to get into the dance.
"Bet your old school didn't have dances like ours," Cobalt challenged.
"Well, we had dances, but they weren't anything special, plus I didn't ever go to any because they were date only," I replied.
"Sounds rough," Cobalt continued, "Those country kids really don't know how to tell the difference between a special someone and someone who pretends to be special."
"Is that your best pick up line," I joked.
Cobalt blushed and led me over to Monty, who stood near the punch table like a bouncer, his arms crossed and everything. Too bad the school doesn't allow sunglasses, this would be a perfect opportunity to actually have a bouncer for the dance. Cobalt, Monty, and I gathered around and took a selfie of all of us, I added some effects to the photo, like the missing sunglasses on Monty and a cute flower for my hair.
"I do say Cobalt, you truly have impressed all of us," Monty joked in a sappy tone, "You didn't do too bad this semester."
"Yeesh Monty, two years ago was real bad, I can't imagine what would have happened if I did all that stuff this year," Cobalt said with an extra hint of regret."
"I know, I know," Monty continued, "but you've managed to pick everything back up."
"Yeah, and I know what you're going to say next," Cobalt replied, then mocked, "And it's all because I'm such a good friend."
"Well that and... Mac," Monty replied, "I think having Mac changed everything, people don't view us the same as they did two years ago."
I started to get a little bored with everyone talking about how good I was and how I improved the two of them. I glanced around the room looking at who brought who to the dance, watching some Sophomores attempt to do the Robot, this only made me snort with laughter. I looked over at the bleachers, Bonnie was in a heated argument with Tora, Toni was nowhere to be seen. I tapped Cobalt's shoulder and pointed over to where Bonnie was.
"I thought he wasn't allowed to go to the dance," Cobalt pondered, "I heard about what happened at the library and all."
"Yeah, Monty and I saw everything, I'm surprised Chordata let Tora into the school after that," I replied.
"I'm surprised she let US go back to school," Monty rephrased my statement.
"I'd rather not think about that," Cobalt trailed off, he took my hand and we made our way to the dance floor. Cobalt glanced back at Monty, I did too.
Monty made a click with his mouth, winked, and motioned a finger gun. He probably was thinking something along the lines of, Go get 'em dude.
I giggled and Cobalt pulled me in for our first dance.
now i suddenly want to read more about cobalt and monty's friendship back in the day, seems like an interesting facet of their characters
