Character File: Mac!

    In this blog post I am going to be going over the many iterations of Mac's character designs that they have gone through. I've had this character for about 2 and a half years now, ever since 8th grade I've always wanted to make a character that is relatable and has good chemistry between other characters. In a few series of posts, I am going to be talking about all of the incarnations of certain characters. Note: these are not all of the character designs or drawings each of these characters have, just a select few drawings that I have picked out because they were the most drastic.

Incarnation 1: Mac used to be a dog, this is the only real prototype of Mac, just a placeholder character named Claire. There really isn't anything super special about this character, but there are little signs of Mac in this character, plus I am not sure who the other dog is supposed to be, I hate the art style on this drawing so much and I want to move on...











Incarnation 2: This is a nameless squirrel that looks like Mac, a lot. I believe this drawing was done around the same time I did another drawing of Cobalt (I planned them to be a couple) and I want to say this may have been around the end of eighth grade or the beginning of freshman year, back then I didn't put dates in the corner of my sketchbooks like I do now.











Incarnations 3: This is the finalized design of Mac so far, the most recent design that I made on August 11, 2020. Mac started out with having no name and then I had a debate with myself and even asked a few people what they thought of their name. The debate was between Chester (Chestnut) or Mac (Macadamia), Mac won the naming contest I had created. The digital design was finished a few weeks later and then posted to my Instagram on October 26, 2020. I would later go on and post all of the three main character's designs on my Twitter earlier this year, as of 2021. I really love Mac and I love all of the old drawings of them it shows how much I've improved with my drawings over the past 2 and a half years.


Incarnation 4: This is the newest and most recent design being finished on September 18, 2022. I have changed Mac's proportions to be more accurate, I gave them their most recent outfit, and switched up their color palette. I am aware with some issues in this drawing, mostly the anatomy, but I really like it, and it suits the new style now.

    By the way the dogs will be coming back in the form of Lily and a refresh of the other character, probably as a HBFTCK character.

    The most interesting thing about Mac to me is the contrast between their generally reserved demeanor v.s. the reasoned and occasionally outright harsh/aggressive things they think, thoughts spawning from a sincere conviction in their beliefs, even if that conviction isn't necessarily visible in their actions.

      I like that Mac speaks their mind, but only in their head, they know that what they will say can genuinely hurt people, so they try to convey positivity through their actions and the way they talk to others and the tone of voice they use

Forest City Chapter 9 -Liar-

    It was around 3:52 when Aunt Hazel and I arrived back at her apartment. She has 8 minutes to get ready for tea with the ladies and I had already made my way up the stairs and into my room, remembering to not hit my head on the ceiling. Forest City 2 Chapter 1 -October-

    It has been a month since Bonnie's disastrous birthday party, she hasn't talked to me since then, I don't blame her. I stepped over a few piles of dirty laundry in my room and opened my big dresser and all of it's glorious drawers. As a kid, I used to play in dresser drawers, I mostly rummaged through my parents and sisters dressers looking for something fun in them. I never was allowed in my brother's rooms, but I'm sure all that I'd find in their dressers are a bunch of old superhero comics or... I don't know... nut free snack foods. My brother Sorrel is a topic of conversation, he's deadly allergic to tree nuts, which is ironic because, well, we're squirrels.
